OSP Control – OKUMA’s Leading Solution

OSP Control – OKUMA’s Leading Solution

By: Noah Agam - Technical Director

All around the world, CNC machines are required to maintain a very large number of quality controls. Based on my 30 years of experience, both as a client and as a service provider, I believe that OKUMA `s OSP control is THE industry leader for stability, speed, accuracy and reliability.
OKUMA’s OSP control meets the needs of machine operators seeking high performance and security as well as purchasing executives seeking maximum return on investment.

Below are just a few of the unique features of OKUMA’s OSP control which make it superior to others in the market:

Accuracy and Over Time:
TFC (Thermo friendly concept) - a unique temperature compensation system which ensures accurate output, despite large changes in ambient temperature (change of 0.008 mm to 8° C).
PFC II - compensates for contour errors caused by unexpected loads on the contractions during movement. This provides innovative developments, such as control and dynamic compensation of mechanical changes of the leading screws and more.

Vibration:
Navy -i - a unique system which can identify vibration tools (milling) and correct spindle speed accordingly, with no operator intervention. Long axis engraving without vibration - Variable spindle speed - an option allowing engraving long axis while preventing vibration.

Protection:
System Collision Avoidance System - keeps the machine and its components from colliding, taking into account the material already removed in pre- processing.
3D virtual monitor – a system providing extraordinary and accurate warning about an expected collision during programming (including offsets and zeros).

Efficiency:
Program restart – A mid program start is an important element when performing setup. The OSP control remembers and is able to start from mid- program, processing stored data and able to operate in a safe manner with no use of special commands, manually or otherwise. This saves lost time during setup and integrates with the collision control system (CAS).
